Message from the President

Happy September!

Hope you all are surviving your classes the best you can — keep taking it one day at a time. For those who came to the Student Org Symposium, thank you! On behalf of the entire Exec Board, we are so proud to have hosted such a successful event. We worked incredibly hard this summer to make it a reality, and it was awesome to see it come to life. Whether you attended or not, please be on the lookout for a survey — we want to hear it all. I look forward to seeing you at our September events and meetings. Please keep an eye on our communications because rooms and dates may have changed.

Hannah Malone, President 2026–27
This Month

Happy September! Now that everyone is settled in, we are shifting into full gear. This month brings professional development, a can't-miss 1L Survival Guide, our first general meeting, and a meaningful community service event that lets us give back to the tiniest members of our community.

And a reminder: AAWL is for everyone, and members of all genders are welcome at the table. Inside this issue you will find our September calendar, this month's birthdays, our awareness spotlight, and everything you need to stay connected. Grab a coffee and dig in.

Meet Kate

Kate is a 3L in the part-time division, and as an alum of UA Little Rock, she loves being part of the Bowen community. She also works full-time for the State of Arkansas at the Department of Human Services as a rules promulgator. Kate came to Bowen with nearly 20 years of professional experience, having served in a variety of communications and public relations roles, mainly in the public sector. She looks forward to continuing to serve the public as an attorney in the future. In her off time, Kate enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, gardening, and kayaking, as well as cooking, traveling, reading esoteric philosophy, watching documentaries, and perfecting her espresso pull. (Nerd alert!) She is happiest relaxing with her pets, family, and friends. Most of all, she celebrates the resilience of humanity and draws inspiration from all corners of life.

Year: Part-Time 3L

Why she came to law school: To grow as a public servant.

Fun fact: She brought back two stray kittens from Romania, and they are now living their best lives with her in Pettaway!

Awareness Corner

Wear Gold This September

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month · September 2026

Honoring Gold, Our Awareness Color

Gold symbolizes how precious children are. This ribbon represents all forms of pediatric cancer and the urgent need for research to save young lives. This September, we invite our members to wear gold, share the cause, and stand with the families affected.

Wear gold to our September 21 general meeting to show your support, and keep it going all month long.
