Reach Out to the BoardThe Arkansas Association of Women Lawyers was founded in 1938, under the leadership of its first President, Virginia Darden Moose — establishing a legacy of women advancing the legal profession that continues today. From a handful of pioneering attorneys to a statewide community with a thriving student chapter at Bowen, AAWL has spent nearly a century opening doors and lifting one another up.
The purposes of the Association, to be exercised in the public interest, are as follows.
To further the interests of women lawyers and their service to the legal profession; to advance the administration of justice according to law; and to aid the courts in carrying on the administration of justice.
To foster public service and high standards of conduct, and to maintain, on the part of those engaged in the practice of law, high standards of integrity, learning and competence.
To encourage collegiality among women lawyers.
To provide a forum for the discussion of subjects pertaining to the practice of law and related subjects.
To improve the judicial and legal process and the science of jurisprudence.
To encourage practices that advance and improve the honor and dignity of the legal profession, and to encourage its members to discharge more effectively their responsibilities in the public interest.
Whether you are a 1L walking into Bowen for the first time, a returning member, or a student mentoring the next generation, the Bowen Chapter is your home base for advocacy, mentorship, and community. We are glad you are here.
